We were running low on my dose so we had to updose on Monday instead. We didn't have enough of my dose to make it to my Thursday appointment so we did it on Monday (today).
Today I had to leave school early because on Monday the only available appointment they had was 3:15 and my school usually ends 3:10. My mom got at my school at 2:00 or so.
Today at my updose appointment, since it was a Monday, I got to see Dr. Selter! I don't usually see him because he's in the other office on Thursdays but today yep I saw him because it was Monday and he was in the office because it wasn't Thursday!
Today my updose went from 1/14th a peanut to 1/11th of a peanut and I'm almost up to 'coltis' (oops my mom says it's called 'capsules'). There are two more appointments til coltis ;). I'm up to 25 mg or something (my mom says yes it is 25 mg).
But my grape koolaid that the peanut is mixed in went from 8 ml to 1 ml and I'm starting to taste the peanut and I don't like the taste!
This is me gobbling up the water because I didn't like the taste of the dose so I'm trying to wash it down. |
When I passed my other food challenges (Nutella and pistachios) I didn't like the taste either but I got used to it and I think that's what is going to happen with peanuts.
This is my face after eating the pistachios |
This is me at my pistachio food challenge in April not wanting
to eat the pistachios.

Now I just gobble up the pistachios and put them all in my mouth at once cuz I don't care about the taste- I don't mind. So I'm not really concerned about the taste of peanuts. I think I'm going to get used to them too.
I'm not going to updose this Thursday also because it is only three days until then and that's not enough time to stay on one dose, so we're gonna wait ten days to make it to the Thursday after that cuz we have to go back to our Thursday appointments because I can't keep missing an hour of school every Monday.
When I got there they checked my weight, they did the blood pressure thing, they did the pulsing thingie. They did the blowing thingie. They checked my temperature. And that was the beginning. From then, it was 20 minutes until I got to dose. TWENTY!!!! Usually we only wait about 3-4 minutes or 2-3 before the new dose.
Then we played games. We had the big new room. We did lots of stuff. We did lots of fun things. And we had a great time.
Way to go, Coby! Keep being brave. You are inspirational!
